๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฐJurisdiction Guide

Your Slovak buyer is asking for ESG compliance evidence because they are subject to CSRD and are one of the world's highest per-capita car producers.

Slovakia is an EU member state fully subject to CSRD and the CSDDD framework, and one of the world's highest per-capita automobile producers. Slovak buyers in automotive, electronics, and manufacturing are among the most active issuers of ESG questionnaires in Central Europe, driven by their position as major suppliers to German, French, and other Western European buyers who are themselves subject to LkSG, CSRD, and CSDDD. The รšOOรš SR (Office for Personal Data Protection) enforces GDPR. SK-CERT (National Cyber Security Centre) coordinates NIS2 implementation.

Key regulations in Slovakia โ€” CSRD, CSDDD & ESG Supplier Guide

CSRD โ€” EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (Slovak transposition)

In Force
Phase 1 (FY 2024): large public-interest entities. Phase 2 (FY 2025): large companies over 250 employees.

Slovakia has transposed CSRD into national law. Slovak companies in scope must report on their supply chain's environmental and social impacts using European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The NBS (National Bank of Slovakia) requires sustainability disclosures from financial institutions. Slovak automotive buyers โ€” supplying Volkswagen, Stellantis (Peugeot/Citroรซn), and Kia โ€” are particularly active in supply chain ESG questionnaires.

Slovakia GDPR & NIS2 Cyber Obligations

In Force
See description for jurisdiction-specific dates and deadlines.

Slovakia implements GDPR with 72-hour breach notification to รšOOรš SR (รšrad na ochranu osobnรฝch รบdajov Slovenskej republiky). NIS2 implementation requires essential and important entities to notify SK-CERT (National Cyber Security Centre) within 24 hours of a significant incident and provide a full report within 72 hours.

What this means for you as a supplier

You are not directly regulated by Slovak law. But your Slovak buyer is preparing for CSRD reporting and CSDDD compliance โ€” and they need your data to complete their own mandatory reports. Slovak buyers in automotive and electronics are particularly active in supply chain due diligence, reflecting their position as major suppliers to German and other Western European buyers who are themselves subject to LkSG and CSRD.

CSRD Phase 1 reporting began for large public-interest entities in FY 2024. Phase 2 covers large companies over 250 employees from FY 2025. Your buyer needs your emissions data, social metrics, and governance information to complete their own mandatory CSRD report. This is not a voluntary request โ€” it is a legal obligation on your buyer that flows through to you as a supplier.
