Your Hungarian buyer is asking for ESG compliance evidence because they are subject to CSRD and are a major automotive manufacturing hub.
Hungary is an EU member state fully subject to CSRD and the CSDDD framework. Hungarian buyers in automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing are among the most active issuers of ESG questionnaires in Central Europe, driven by their position as major suppliers to German, French, and other Western European buyers who are themselves subject to LkSG, CSRD, and CSDDD. The Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection (NAIH) enforces GDPR. SZTFH coordinates NIS2 implementation.
Key regulations in Hungary โ CSRD, CSDDD & ESG Supplier Guide
CSRD โ EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (Hungarian transposition)
Hungary has transposed CSRD into national law. Hungarian companies in scope must report on their supply chain's environmental and social impacts using European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The Hungarian National Bank (MNB) requires sustainability disclosures from financial institutions. Hungarian automotive buyers โ supplying Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, and other major OEMs โ are particularly active in supply chain ESG questionnaires.
Hungary GDPR & NIS2 Cyber Obligations
Hungary implements GDPR with 72-hour breach notification to NAIH (Nemzeti Adatvรฉdelmi รฉs Informรกciรณszabadsรกg Hatรณsรกg). NIS2 implementation requires essential and important entities to notify SZTFH within 24 hours of a significant incident and provide a full report within 72 hours.
